This week we welcome our first “Ask the Dictator” episode for our Dragon Dictate for Mac users! On today’s episode, Peter Mahoney shows us how to add a word in Dragon Dictate for Mac that Dictate doesn’t quite understand yet.
Let’s sum up:
1) Switch to the Dragon application
2) Click in the menu bar with the mouse and select an item
3) Click a button and type a word and press a button
4) Right-click and select an item
5) Click a button
6) Say something three times
7) Click a button
8) Close the editor and wait for it to update your profile
That’s quite a few steps for something a user might need to do daily or more. Why isn’t there an easier way? Maybe something that doesn’t require multiple mouse movements, clicks, and typing? Consider this a feature request…
Stephen, we appreciate your input and suggestions. Have a couple of responses to your post. I’ll head over there and comment back.
Thanks again for sharing. Feedback from folks like you is a big part of making Dictate even better.

I frequently train and retrain words in Dragon Dictate, yet they are never recognized. For example, DYFS, pronounced DI-fus, and Brianna is always Rhianna with no other options. Help please!
This is the best “Ask the Dictator” video I’ve ever seen.
